Many fall sports will be starting liberty league play this weekend after what was a challenging third week of competition for many teams.

Field Hockey had two weekday games this week, one on Thursday at Hamilton College and the other on Tuesday at Utica College. The Saints split, with a loss to Hamilton and a win over Utica. Junior McKenzie Haebrl had a hat trick against Utica, tallying her eighth goal of the season. They open their liberty league play against Skidmore on Saturday.

Football was victorious over Morrisville state at Morrisville this weekend, winning 27 to 14. Football will be hosting Caselton at Leckonby Stadium for Laurentian Weekend.

Senior Quarterback Tyler Grochot said he was proud of the team’s effort this past weekend.

“The team played really well. We need to work on playing a complete game but all in all I’m proud of the team and the ways in which we battled through adversity to get the win this past Friday,” he said.

Men’s Golf finished 15th this weekend at Williams College Fall Invitational in Williamstown, Massachusets. According to the athletics press-release, senior William Wilson led the saints scoring 72 in round one and 79 in round two, placing 18th overall.

Senior Izzy Silvia said the ending was unfortunate.

“We ended with a weather delay and weren’t able to finish the game, which was unfortunate,” she said. “It was a hard-fought effort throughout the game, and we started out really strong.”

Men’s Tennis had a tournament at Union College this weekend. Adam Heilbronner won the “B” singles flight and John Hill-Edgar, and Broderick Pinto won the “B” doubles flight. The women played in the ITA Northeast Regionals at William Smith on Saturday. Lillian Sullivan and Catherine Gamble had first-round wins.
