How has the team performed so far this season? The team has seen some really good results so far! This past weekend we had Riley Whitney post her best carnival results, with a 10th place. We’ve had two carnivals, our college races, this year, and have four ahead of us.

What is it like being in your last season at SLU? Honestly, it’s a bit strange to be in my last season since it doesn’t seem like long ago I was entering my first season. I’m definitely going to miss SLU Skiing and more generally, ski racing as a whole.

What mountains does the team typically ski at? The team trains at Whiteface Mondays and Wednesdays, and Tuesdays we head up to Mont Cascade, outside of Ottawa. Typically Thursdays are travel days, and weekends are races at mountains all over the east coast.

Do you have a favorite mountain? My favorite mountain on the east coast is Sugarloaf in Maine!

For those of us who don’t know how your sport is scored, how does a competition work? Ski racing is one of the most difficult sports to explain in terms of scoring, so I’ll do my best here. Essentially, it’s all based on your finish place. There’s team points and NCAA points, and the further up you finish, the more points you receive for both. NCAA points count toward NCAA qualifications, and team points are combined from both races of the weekend and with the Nordic team. Then the teams in Eastern Division 1 College circuit are ranked each weekend.

What is your favorite place to eat on campus? My favorite place to eat on campus is Newell!
