Dear Dub: Introductions

0

Mary – Mary Batsie (she/her) is a first-time Dubber from Jericho, Vermont. This sophomore English major is super excited to be back on campus after a year away. Her favorite things include, jam bands, brekki wraps from the Pub, and coming home to a full house after a long day. Mary can most often be found doing work in the ODY basement or sunning on the Java quad with friends, so if you see her, say hello!

Gwen – Gwen Landis (she/her) is a returning Dubber and junior who is majoring in Global Public and Environmental Health. Gwen, from Stow, Massachusetts, enjoys baking treats for her housemates, funky earrings, rain boots, spreading sparkles, and other fairy-like activities. Come say hi if you see her hammocking in the Enchanted Forest and taking in the tree views. Gwen is excited to do some more off-campus hiking this semester and for Dub family dinners!

Aoife – Aofie Currie (she/fae) is a sophomore who comes all the way from Canton, New York. She is interested in Global Studies, Anthropology, and Gender Studies. This first-semester Dubber is excited to further the campus discourse around feminism and queer rights. You can typically find Aofie chilling in the Dub living room listening to records while doing homework. When fae’s not there, she’s playing video games with friends or participating in E-Sports Team events.

Sara - [a] Sara Monggaard (she/her) is a junior and a returning Dubber from Roskilde, Denmark. One of Sara’s favorite places on campus is the Noble skylight study area, where she can often be found discussing interesting readings from her Global Studies major and Gender and Sexuality Studies minor classes. Sara enjoys late-night porch-swinging/cigs, gluten-free food, and taking time to let her friends know how much she appreciates them.

Mil – Emily Burns (they/them) is a first-time Dubber from Tupper Lake, New York. Spot them on campus cruising around on their pink bike. Emily is a biology major and enjoys cut-off t-shirts, pineapple on pizza, and sustainable agriculture. Their favorite spot on campus is the Johnson Hall of Science second-floor bathroom. Emily is excited for a full year with their besties and lots of Dub love.

Emily C – Emily Coppola (she/her) hails from Keene, NH. This biology major enjoys long walks on the Saddlemire Trail and sipping coffee on the Dub porch. Emily is a part of SLU EMS and is a Biology TA- what a lifesaver! This is going to be her first semester living in the Dub. Emily is excited for more house dinners and watching the beautiful fall colors change across campus!

Ayanda – Ayanda Mcanyana is another of our new Dubbers, and is from Mbabane, Eswatini! She is a sophomore, who is interested in Computer Science and Math. Aside from being the Dub’s resident coding champion, Ayanda loves hanging out with her friends on one of the many glorious floors of the Student Center, and is super excited to meet some new people this semester!

Izzy W-W – Izzy Wellman-Webster comes to the Dub from Bar Harbor, Maine. Izzy is an English major and this is her first semester living in the house. She is super excited to have some intriguing conversations during Dub Club, and to empower folks to see their beautiful bodies and to use their mighty voices! If Izzy isn’t dancing around at Java or a SLU showcase, she’s probably thinking some big thoughts in the glass study rooms on the third floor of ODY.

Stevie – Stevie Merwin (she/they) is a returning Dubber and senior! This beauty in a lab coat is a chemistry major conducting her SYE research on gender discrimination in the STEM field. When they’re not in the lab, you can find Stevie taking in the fall foliage from the Dub Porch, laughing with friends, and most likely dancing. Stevie is from Hoosick Falls, New York where she is part of an undefeated sand volleyball team. Stevie is excited to bring back our Topless Spaghetti event later this semester.

Marly – Marly Bartkus (she/they) is our second sexy senior and a returning Dubber. This boss babe is a biology major from Westminster, Massachusetts. Marly is our resident movie buff and makes a mean gluten-free mac n’ cheese. When she’s not doing research or making pottery in the ceramics studio, you can find Marly on the Dub front porch contemplating the many wonders of soil.
