The Ogdensburg Police reported that nine people were arrested in two separate raids earlier this week. The residents were arrested for third degree drug and weapon felonies, according to the Watertown Daily Times.  Among the drugs seized by the Ogdensburg police were methamphetamine, heroin and crack cocaine. Also recovered was money from the alleged sale of drugs and several firearms.

The first raid took place on Monday evening, where police entered the dwelling to find an active methamphetamine lab and completed methamphetamine. Five people were arrested as a result of the bust, two who were residents of the house, two others who were present at the scene and another was arrested later due to the information gathered by the bust.

The second raid happened early Tuesday morning at a house flagged for the sale of narcotics, where police seized “a quantity of heroin, crack cocaine and U.S. currency,” according to Lt. Daniel Mousaw of the Ogdensburg police. “Additionally, located within the home and within reach of occupants of the residence, was a loaded .22 caliber handgun. Separately located and recovered was a 12-gauge shotgun,” Mr. Mousaw said in a statement.

Four people were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance as a result of the raid Tuesday.  Salean Simmons, the homeowner, was also charged with criminal possession of a firearm, as she had previously been convicted of a felony. Ogdensburg police announced that they had been conducting an investigation into illegal methamphetamine production in the area.

Working with them on the investigation were Saint Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force, the Gouverneur and Canton police departments, the New York State Police, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Border Patrol. All nine individuals are being held at the Ogdensburg Police Department awaiting their arraignment, according to the Watertown Daily Times.  The Ogdensburg Police said that the investigation is ongoing and could result in further arrests.
