Quarantine Testimonies: Being by Myself and Being in the Moment

Quarantine Testimony #2: Being by Myself

In a way, quarantining on campus with my roommates helped me find myself and grow in ways that I hadn’t really thought of. Since we were all kind of trapped in a room together, we got on each other’s nerves sometimes… okay, quite a bit. Neither of them really ever bothered to leave the room either, so if I was going to be in there they were too. So I started leaving, just to find time for myself. I took walks on the trail and around campus, I ate meals at Dana by myself, I worked out and went downtown and took a yoga class all by myself. And the thing was, I actually ended up really enjoying it! I think for my first years on campus, I got so wrapped up in trying to make friends and find a “group” that I had forgotten how nice it was to just… be. That’s definitely not to say that I don’t want to hang out with my friends anymore, but I’ve rediscovered that sometimes it’s really nice to just enjoy my own company. Even though quarantine wasn’t ideal and I wish COVID didn’t exist, I will be forever grateful that I was given this time to rediscover the experience of just being by myself.

Quarantine Testimony #3: The Usuals

My roommates and I had a movie marathon of the 50 Shades series and did yoga.

Quarantine Testimony #4: Appreciation is the Key

During my Quarantine, I was pleasantly surprised by the efforts of Dining services workers and CAs who wanted to make the process as painless as possible. Shout out to the kind women in Dean who worked everyday to accommodate various dietary needs and keep us all from going hungry!
