Meet the Spring 2023 Hill News Editors
The Hill News welcomes a new team of editors and staff for the Spring semester of 2023. If you would like to get to know each of us personally, continue reading!
Alexandra Hill ’23, originally from Los Angeles, is a senior triple majoring in English, French and mathematics with minors in statistics and European studies. Having worked on her high school yearbook, she knew she wanted to pursue publication at SLU, so she began writing for the News and Opinions sections her freshman Fall. She worked her way up the Hill, becoming the Opinions Editor, then Managing Editor the following year. Now, as Editor-in-Chief, she hopes to foster a team of passionate editors and writers who reveal injustices, pressing issues, and noteworthy accomplishments occurring on campus all year round.
Zach Jaworski ’25 is the Managing Editor of The Hill News. He is from the small town of North Collins, NY, and is a psychology and government double major with a minor in German studies. He is extremely passionate about providing St. Lawrence with accurate and objective sources of information and seeks to combat misinformation. He is the captain of the Men’s Track and Field team where he primarily competes in the throwing events. Zach also works as a Community Assistant for first-year students. Zach can usually be found grinding out homework at the student center or practicing throwing at the field house.
Emily Siansky ’26 is from Olney, M.D., and this is her second semester as Managing Editor of The Hill News. Outside of her newspaper duties, Emily is also a catcher on the Saints Softball team. Other than school and softball, you can probably find her in the Stu drinking an iced matcha with her teammates and friends.
Jenny L’Hommedieu ’23 is the Chief Digital Editor for The Hill News. She is from Columbus, OH, and a captain on the varsity field hockey team. She is a philosophy and business double major with a public health and sociology double minor. Jenny studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark last spring and cherished the opportunity to travel around Europe! Jenny is also involved with admissions and the sorority Delta Delta Delta on campus as well. She is an avid Dana fan and loves long Dana and Pub sits with friends.
Eva Yeo ’23 is a studio art and art history major from Maine. She is the Chief Copy Editor of The Hill News and started working on the team by writing pieces for an Intro to Journalism class. She has been copy-editing since then. Outside of work she enjoys ceramics, writing, hiking around and spending time with the people she loves. Eva is returning to The Hill News this semester after studying abroad in Cortona, Italy.
Richard Walsh ’23, hailing from Westchester N.Y. is finishing up his senior year as an editor for the News section at the Hill. A History Major and a Government minor, Richard loves seeing history come alive through his work at the Hill. Formerly a member of the crew team, Richard is excited to use his last semester exploring all opportunities possible at SLU.
Kelley Daphness ’23 is a News Editor for The Hill News. Kelley is a New York Native. Her hometown is Evans Mills, N.Y. She is an Anthropology and Psychology double major with a Public Health minor. Kelley has traveled to Africa and has studied at St. Lawrence University’s Kenya Semester Program. Kelley works at the Student Mail Center in the Sullivan Student Center. Kelley is curious about the world around her and after graduating from SLU she hopes to become a journalist.
Quinn Meyer ’25 is a News Editor for The Hill News. Quinn is from Skaneateles, N.Y., and is a government major with an interest in international relations and francophone studies. Quinn currently works in the NCAT lab and is excited to pursue truth and the clear delivery of information to campus.
Matthew Taylor ’25 is the editor of the sports section for The Hill News. He is from Rochester, N.Y., and is a government major. He is a member of the Men’s Cross Country and Track and Field teams. Matt enjoys watching and writing about sports, and when he isn’t running or working for The Hill, you can often find Matt hanging out at Dana or the Student Center with friends.
Ian Clark ’24 is a steadfast patriot with one hand on his heart and another on his cigar. A Government major with a dual minor in Global Studies and History, Ian is a trained political operative with his sights set on Washington, may they tremble. Continuing his second semester as the Opinions editor, Ian carries the Hill News with his stoic grumbles, exasperated sighs, and honest kindness. If you have an opinion, let him know. He’ll probably get it published.
Ashlee Molina is the Arts and Entertainment editor for The Hill News. Ashlee comes from Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.! Ashlee is also a SLU Advocate. On campus, you can find Ashlee at the SC, drinking a coffee.
Patrick Chase ’25 is a government major and a digital media minor. He is a member of SLU Ducks Unlimited and an intern for Nature Up North. Patrick likes to spend time hiking in the Adirondacks with his dog, Maya.
