Career Corner: OCIP and Development
The On Campus Internship Program was launched this fall, and the current cohort of interns is nearing completion of their first semester in their roles. The program has been such a success that departments across campus are now accepting applications for 11 internships for the spring 2024 semester!
The OCIP involves tasks, activities and learning that go beyond what might be expected of a traditional student employee to include work requiring greater intellectual engagement and/or professional responsibility. OCIP internships involve at least 50-75 percent substantive work engaging students in higher-level professional activities, including but not limited to, research, analysis, writing, data collection and interacting/communicating with audiences and/or constituents.
The OCIP experience will focus on skill building, mentorship, learning, reflection and opportunities to develop/expand a professional network. A foundation of the OCIP is to provide reciprocity as a mutually beneficial experience for the student and internship provider. These are PAID in-person experiences.
Internship opportunities for the Spring 2024 semester include: Athletics Operations Intern (Athletics), Career Coaching Internship (Center for Career Excellence), Content Creation Internship (First Year Program), Digital Media Specialist (Esports), Employer Engagement Internship (Center for Career Excellence), Library Archives Internships (University Libraries), Library Internship (University Libraries), Marketing & Assessment Internship (Center for Career Excellence), Sports Media & Communication Internship (Athletics), Suicide Prevention & Substance Abuse Internship (Wellness Education) and Team Manager (Esports).
