Anticipated Annex Activities
Hello! My name is Elijah White ’26. I am a sophomore and a History–PCA double major. This is my second semester in the Arts Annex, the center of performing arts on the St. Lawrence campus. I first became interested in the Annex my freshman year while rehearsing “Mr. Burns” with my great friend and our powerful president Nick Tiedemann ’25. My favorite parts of the Arts Annex are the nicest showers on campus, the music library and my cozy bed! Today, I’m going to tell you about our incredible upcoming events that are free and open to all students.
As our applications open, we wish to invite anyone interested in the Annex to come visit our home away from home. We thank everyone who stopped by our Open House this past Wednesday and Thursday. You can find our house applications for Fall 2024 on the Performing Arts Collective Presence page or visit our house to pick up a paper copy.
The foundation of the Arts Annex is the Performance Arts Collective, which meets every Monday at 6 p.m. in the music library located in the Arts Annex. This integral part of the Annex allows our members to get involved in the local St. Lawrence Community as well as anyone interested in performance arts on campus. Beginner or expert, please drop in if you love acting, dancing, singing, playing music, listening to music, watching movies or having fun!
As for our upcoming events, we have a lot in store. PAC is teaming up with The Laurentian Magazine this Saturday for a Poetry Slam at 2 p.m.! There will be an opportunity to read a poem, either by a poet you like or one you wrote, with an improv poetry competition to follow. Obviously, this competition comes with a prize, so please drop by the Arts Annex on Saturday for a chance to win!
Next Tuesday, Feb. 13, PAC is hosting a watch-along of “10 Things I Hate About You” at 7 p.m.in our fabled music library! The hit 1999 romantic comedy is a perfect way to spend pre-Valentine’s Day weekend with some pretty cool people.
Lastly, a quick shoutout to the Jam Room! Any interested musicians can sign up for a time slot to rock out or explore any musical aspiration. The sign-up sheet can be found on our Instagram page or on our posters around campus. For more questions, email John Pollard ’26 at jspoll22@stlawu.edu.
Watch out for our emails, posters, and tabling in the upcoming weeks for our next round of events!! We’d love to see you there.
