Sellers and Evolfo Rock the Java Stage

0

We kicked off the night with Seller, a grunge-pop band from New Haven, Conn. I caught up with Matt Cristo before they went on, and he filled me in on the band’s backstory.

They formed in January 2017 and have shared stages with acts that include Fossil Youth, Blue Heaven and Chase Huglin. Seller focuses in on the post-hardcore 90’s with a touch of alternative. They kept the audience buzzing throughout the night playing their debut album “Present & Pretending,” while also throwing in some very polished covers.

My favorite song of the night was a Stone Temple Pilots cover of “Interstate Love Song.” Johnny Mitchell’s vocals seemed to shatter the ceiling on this tune, and there wasn’t a more fitting song for the group’s sound. The positive energy flowed right through the set break and onto Evolfo’s set. Evolfo captured the energy for the second set of the night. Evolfo blends some deep alternative vibes with a mix of some nice rock influenced overtones. If you missed Evolfo’s set at Java, I’m sure you caught up with them at Fall Fest to open for B.o.B.

Overall, it was an amazing weekend on campus for entertainment. Up next at Java is the highly anticipated act of 99 Neighbors with Golden Boy Music Group. 99 Neighbors is a high energy rap duo from Burlington, Vermont who are making their second appearance at the venue.

Make sure to stop by and catch some of their act this Thursday. Doors open at 10 p.m., so bring your best set of dancing shoes and get ready to get down with the Java Beans!

As always, no bags, no booze, no problems!
