Las Nude Dads at Java

0

Well, my fellow Java enthusiasts, this was it. This was the show that this humble narrator has been waiting ever so patiently for since the schedule has been meticulously created for the semester. [In order of set times] Las Rosas, Acid Dad, and the Nude Party brought the absolute party.

Following a (very cool) late arrival to the venue, the bands immediately dispersed about the venue, catching up with one another and getting a feel for the venue vibes. The Nude Party broke out of their van in a style nostalgic to a 90’s surf movie. They took the venue by storm, shooting liquids down celery stalks and spilling salsa on the floor.

Las Rosas strolled in shortly after, clad in leather and denim. They had a wavy-gravy sense of sophistication, a description suiting for their musical prowess as well. Acid Dad had been around the venue for a while at this point, the stage ready for the first sound check.

By the time the show had actually kicked in, the crowd was already raving. Potential Java Bean interns filled a good portion of the room, and early Java patrons secured their preferred

standing spots. Las Rosas kicked off the night with romanticized 60’s psych-rock and roll.

The threesome comprised of Jose, Michael, and another Jose has been playing for the past five years. Coming from Brooklyn, many of their shows are in the city, but they have toured out west as well as up north. As their fandom continues to expand, the Java Barn has joined the ranks of the infected.

Acid Dad filled their headlining position just around 11:30, and kept the party alive. The  industrious rhythmic musings of the LSD Papi’s were contagious, forcing the entire venue into a frenzy. Acid Dad is in the process of releasing their first full length album that should be available in the next few weeks. They have been touring throughout the east coast and plan to continue this summer.

The Nude Party originated in North Carolina a few years back. These guys are absolutely nuts. The Nude Party did a fantastic job of keeping the party alive well beyond the peak hours of Java. Their set ended with a double-encore followed by an all out party when everyone in the crowd moved onto the stage. It was truly a Java miracle, members of Acid Dad and Las Rosas came back out on to the stage to jam, and this columnist was a happy boy.

You will have just seen the Swift Technique (or maybe not, the weather was certainly a concern) and if you did, I’m sure you were blown away. We have all kinds of tasty things that we’re cooking up here at the Java Barn, so stay tuned!
