To the casual fan this may have been a quiet week in the world of sports, but avid fans are gearing up for a fall that will be sure to entertain. Week Two of the NFL separated the pretenders from the possible contenders. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots avenged their week one embarrassment by way of a 36-20 win over the New Orleans Saints squad that is still searching for their first win. Tom Brady completed 30 of 39 pass attempts and threw for 447 yards and three touchdowns. The Tennessee Titans impressed with a 37-16 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Kansas City Chiefs earned their second win of the season as they beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-20. San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde led the league in rushing this week, with 124 yards on 15 carries, and JJ Nelson of the Arizona Cardinals led the league in receiving, with 120 yards on 5 receptions and 1 touchdown. The Atlanta Falcons showed no signs of a down year after their magical run last season, as they handled the Green Bay Packers 34-23.

The professional golf season is winding down. This weekend the golfers on the top of the FedEx Cup standings will convene at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, GA for the final leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Players such as Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, and Dustin Johnson, seek a 10-million-dollar prize and a championship title that only comes around once a year. Last week, Australian born Marc Leishman captured the BMW Championship title in Lake Forest, IL. He accumulated a four round score of 23 under par, besting the second place finisher by 5 strokes.  Leishman jumped to number 4 in the FedEx Cup standings heading into the final stage.

The Cleveland Indians won 22 baseball games in a row. That streak is second to only the New York Giants of the 1916 season who won 26 games in a row. They trailed for only 8 innings throughout the 22 games and won 15 games in 14 days. This streak is nothing short of incredible, but have they peaked too early? The other contenders in the American League sure hope so.  The Los Angeles Dodgers have locked up a playoff spot, while the Washington Nationals, Cleveland Indians, and Houston Astros have all clinched their division.  The Wild Card round of the MLB Playoffs start October 3rd.

The NHL and NBA seasons begin in early October. There are a lot of questions heading in to both of these seasons.  Sports analysts attempt to predict and develop opinions before the games even begin. Fans will just have to wait and see.

The College Football season is well underway. Clemson was able to back up their number two ranking with a dominating win over defending Heisman Trophy winner, Lamar Jackson and Louisville. Alabama beat Colorado State 41-23 to hang on to the number one ranking, while Oklahoma, Penn State, and USC were all victorious at third, fourth, and fifth rankings.  Week four features no top 10 matchups.

The next few weeks are sure to be packed with many intriguing sports stories and events.  Keep an eye out to see what happens.
