NFL free agency is to begin soon on March 18th at 4 PM EST, and the marquee free agent to be is that of New England quarterback, Tom Brady. Since the season ended last month rumors have been leaking throughout the NFL world as to what Tom Brady would be doing next season. Tom Brady made it clear that he would not be retiring after the Patriot’s defeat to the Tennessee Titans back in January. What he did not make clear was which team he would be playing with, and Patriots Nation has been holding it’s breath as they await word of their star quarterback’s decision. Sports reporters and pundits alike have been attempting to find out which teams Brady could go to, as it appears his time in New England is up.
The tension between Brady and Belichick has long been rumored and reported over the last few years and as of this week it has not seemed to improve. According to Boston Herald’s Karen Guregian, a phone call between Brady and Belichick didn’t go well. According to her source, “It was the first time Belichick had contacted Brady about his contract situation, and the Patriots’ plans going forward. The source wouldn’t shed further light on the discussion, or the particulars, other than noting it wasn’t all that fruitful.” It’s not surprising that this call transpired as the discontent between the two has been long known ever since Robert Kraft forced Belichick to trade Jimmy Garoppolo in order to keep Brady on the team back in 2017.
The rumors surrounding which teams Brady would go to, should he leave the Patriots include: The Indianapolis Colts, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Dallas Cowboys and many more. The two largest rumors indicated have been that he will go the Tennessee Titans and the San Francisco 49ers.
Brady, if his desire to leave the Patriots is strong, will be looking for a team that has what the Patriots don’t have. He will seek a team that has a strong offensive line, with good wide receivers, and an extremely good running game. These indications are why the 49ers and Titans are the frontrunners in the Brady free agency sweepstakes.
When speaking to UFC President, Dana White, who was trying to convince Brady to go to the Raiders, Brady said, “Right now, I’m just trying to be patient through this process. It’s my first time going through it, in the meantime, I’m going to spend a lot of time with my family over the next 10 to 12 days. We have a little vacation planned, which I’m looking forward to it.”
For the next couple of weeks the rumors will continue and we don’t know where Brady will end up yet, but all things considered… I’ll be surprised if Brady finishes his career with the Patriots.
